AHS Recognized in All Four Center Stage Categories |
Ashwaubenon High School has been recognized by the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program for their production of Les Misérables. Throughout the 2019-20 school year, 23 local high schools participated in the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program, an education initiative of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center that celebrates and supports the achievements of high school theater programs in Northeastern Wisconsin. |

Ashwaubenon's Coach Karcz Steps Down |
Ashwaubenon High School basketball coach Chris Karcz has decided to step down. Coach Karcz was the men?s basketball coach for the past two seasons. Activities Director/Associate Principal Nick Senger said, "We appreciate Coach Karcz's time running the program and wish him well."
The program will continue to be competitive in the tough FRCC and will begin immediately to hire the best possible replacement. "We will be working on finding a coach that has the commitment, desire, and ability to connect to our student-athletes in the youth and high school program." |

AHS Students Win Photography Awards |
Three students from Ashwaubenon High School won awards for their photography work at the 15th annual Edgar G. Mueller Photography contest held in Mayville, WI on May 19th, 2019. Ashwaubenon High School senior, Meganne Williams, won Best of Show for her black and white photograph titled, "Cake". Ashwaubenon High School junior, Skylar Story, took second place for her black and white photograph titled "Ex. Russ". Celeste Weidemann, senior at the high school, took 4th place for her color photograph titled "Surface Tension". These students received a certificate, a ribbon and a monetary award. |

Ashwaubenon Announces Cassandra Schneider as High School Associate Principal |
Cassandra Schneider, current math teacher at Ashwaubenon High School, will take over as the Ashwaubenon High School's associate principal effective July 1, 2019. This change is the result of current associate principal, Dirk Ribbens, taking over as principal of Ashwaubenon High School for the 2019-20 school year. |

AHS Hires Girls Swim Coach |
Ashwaubenon High School has hired Kari Klezcka as the new girls swim coach at Ashwaubenon High School. Kari has been involved as one of the lead coaches with the Green Bay YMCA swim club since 2010. She swam at Pulaski High School and has since worked under Coach Dave Korst during her time at the Green Bay YMCA. |

AHS Student Medals at International Competition |
Ashwaubenon High School had one student compete at the DECA International Competition held April 27th through April 31st in Orlando, Florida. The competition welcomed over 20,000 students. Simran Armstrong medaled on the marketing test in the Food Marketing event, finishing in the top 10% of over 170 other students in that category. There are about 20 different event areas for the students to compete in. Each student takes a business test and does two business role plays with business professionals. Student scores on all three events are added together to determine overall winners in each event category. Students can earn a medal in any event if they finish in the top 10%. |

ASD DI PROGRAM TO HOLD SECOND QUARTERLY PAPER DRIVE |
The Ashwaubenon Schools' Destination Imagination Teams (DI) will be holding their second quarterly drive on May 11, from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Valley View Elementary School, 2200 True Lane. In December of 2018, the teams were notified by the paper company, that beginning in 2019, they will be switching their fundraising support from monthly drives to quarterly drives. |

STINGCANCER Wear Yellow Day on May 3rd |
Local Ashwaubenon schools will be participating in the 15th annual STINGCANCER Wear Yellow Day on Friday, May 3rd. The goal of Wear Yellow Day is to show support for those who have been affected by cancer in some way. It is also an opportunity to remember those who have lost their battle to cancer. Ashwaubenon staff and students are invited to wear yellow on Friday, May 3rd, to show their support for the fight against cancer. |

Parkview students involved in the HEA Kids Pack have been nominated for the Green Bay Packers Give Back Large Group Award. This award recognizes individuals and groups in the community who make a difference through volunteerism. The HEA Kids Pack will find out if they are winners of this award at the upcoming Wisconsin Public Service Volunteer Awards Breakfast on Thursday, April 18th held at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. |

Ashwaubenon Announces Dirk Ribbens as High School Principal |
Dirk Ribbens, current associate principal at Ashwaubenon High School, will take over as the Ashwaubenon High School's principal effective July 1, 2019. This change is the result of current principal, Brian Nelsen, announcing his retirement after serving as principal for six years. |

Ashwaubenon's Sam Stanko Earns Perfect ACT Test Score |
Ashwaubenon High School student Sam Stanko earned a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT test. Of all students nationwide, only 0.195% earn a perfect score. The ACT test consists of testing in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science, each scored on a scale of 1-36. |

AHS TECH ED PROGRAM AWARDED ITEEA PROGRAM EXCELLENCE AWARD |
The Technology and Engineering Education program at Ashwaubenon High School was recognized as one of only 37 programs worldwide to earn the Program Excellence Award in 2019 from the International Technology and Engineering Educator Association (ITEEA). The award was received at the annual conference for ITEEA held in Kansas City, Missouri last month. The Ashwaubenon High School educators receiving the award included Tom Barnhart and Dave Stroud, along with Jeremie Meyer, who was unable to attend the event. |

ShopKo Foundation Donates $200,000 to Ashwaubenon Schools |
The Shopko Foundation presented a check for $200,000 to the Ashwaubenon Education Foundation on Friday, April 5th. The money donated will help provide the Ashwaubenon schools with educational materials and programs that benefit our students. |

AHS Music Students Qualify for Wisconsin State Honors |
Five students from Ashwaubenon High School have been selected to take part in the Wisconsin State Music Association's State Honors Music program. This year?s recipients are Koby Harris, Tuba-Band, Evan Larson, Bass-Mixed Choir, Madeline Miner, Alto-Mixed Choir, Sam Stanko, Trumpet Band, Kate Stenson, Alto-Mixed Choir. |

AHS Student Receives Voice Scholarship |
Ashwaubenon High School senior, Ashlee Vyskocil, was recently awarded a voice scholarship. She auditioned for and was selected to receive the scholarship for non-music majors at the College of Saint Benedict?s/St. John?s University. This award is in the amount of $2,000 each year. Her selection was based on her audition performance, experience at Ashwaubenon High School and in the community, and a letter of recommendation. This scholarship is renewable for four years as long as she stays in compliance with the scholarship requirements and participates in a curricular choir. Ashlee has recently committed to Saint Benedict's, where she plans on majoring in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. |

The Ashwaubenon High School Music program held their annual Wisconsin State Music Association District Solo and Ensemble Festival this past Friday, at Ashwaubenon High School. There were over 150 instrumental and choral events at the festival. |

AHS STUDENTS PLACE TOP 10 AT DECA STATE |
Ashwaubenon High School had three students compete at the DECA State Competition held March 4th and 5th in Lake Geneva. The competition welcomed over 100 schools and more than 1,000 students. All three Ashwaubenon competitors finished in the top ten for their event, finishing as an overall series finalist. One student will be moving on to the DECA International Competition in April. There are about 20 different event areas for the students to compete in. Each student takes a business test and does two business role plays with business professionals. Student scores on all three events are added together to determine overall winners in each event category. |

Ashwaubenon's Valley View Elementary second grade classes will perform The Bremen Town Musicians Mini-Musical based on a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, about animal strangers on the road who became best friends. The concert will also include three additional songs about friends and friendship. This concert will take place at Valley View Elementary School, located at 2200 True Lane, on Tuesday, March 5th at 1:15p.m. |

Artwork by Caylee Behnke, Kharmilla Barton, and Mackenzie Lindow were selected to participate in the Wisconsin Youth Art Month Exhibit at the State Capital. This exhibit, featuring 300 works of student art, will on display at the Rotunda at the State Capitol, 2 E. Main Street, from February 27 through March 11, 2016. On March 11 there will be an awards ceremony from noon until 1:00pm. The event is hosted by the Wisconsin Art Education Association, wiarted.org. |

AHS STUDENTS' ARTWORK SHOWCASED AT THE NEVILLE |
The artwork of five Ashwaubenon High School students will be on display at the Northeast Regional Art Education Association?s Youth Art Month exhibition at the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This show contains over 150 works by students in the Northeast region of Wisconsin and will be open to the public from February 5th through March 3rd, 2019. The students representing Ashwaubenon are as follows: Caylee Behnke, Claudia Dumoulin, Kharmilla Barton, Mackenzie Lindow, and Nancy Lor. A reception will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, February 9th to commemorate the student artists. |

AHS HIRES MATH TEACHER/FOOTBALL COACH |
Ashwaubenon High School has hired Brian Ryczkowski as a math teacher and head football coach at Ashwaubenon High School. Ryczkowski has taught in the Little Chute School District and led the Little Chute football program since 2013. He comes in with the experience of guiding his team deep into the WIAA playoffs, year in and year out. His 2014 team was state runner-up, and this past season he guided the Mustangs to a perfect regular season and a Level IV playoff berth. |

Ashwaubenon Blast 2018 |
We are excited to share with you our plans for the 2018 Ashwaubenon Blast. This annual event is in its 4th year and continues to grow. The Ashwaubenon Alumni Association in partnership with the Village of Ashwaubenon and the School District of Ashwaubenon will be holding the Ashwaubenon Blast on Saturday, August 11 from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm at Ashwaubomay Park in Ashwaubenon. This event will be open to the public starting off the day with a car show and continuing with live music starting at 11:30am by Big Mouth & The Power Tool Horns followed at 3:00pm by Rocker and 6:30pm by the Cougars. In addition there will be carnival games, face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses, free swimming at Ashwaubomay Lake. Admission is free and food and beverages will be available to purchase. |

Senior Jaguar Prowl Scheduled for May 20, 2020 |
Ashwaubenon High School seniors and staff will take part in its first ever Jaguar Prowl on Wednesday, May 20th. This event provides an opportunity for the graduating class of 2020 to decorate their vehicles, dress up in their cap and gowns, and have a parent/guardian drive them in a loop of nostalgia past the high school grounds. The event will begin at 5:00p.m., with a fire truck leading the caravan of vehicles. |

Sting Cancer Wear Pink Day |
The Ashwaubenon High School Sting Cancer group will be holding a Wear Pink Day on Friday, October 4, 2019. This will carry into the night of the football game against Bay Port, which will take place at Goeltz Field in Ashwaubenon. All money raised during Wear Pink Day will be donated to the Ashwaubenon Sting Cancer Club. The Sting Cancer group will be decorating the surrounding field in pink, conducting a bake sale, and hosting a "Miracle Minute" fundraising activity between the first and second half of the varsity football game. Ashwaubenon Hires Basketball Coach |
Ashwaubenon High School has hired Mark Tomashek as the new boys basketball coach at Ashwaubenon High School. Tomashek most recently coached varsity basketball at Denmark High School where he compiled a 117-75 career record from 1999-2008. The Denmark teams coached by Tomashek were competitive and successful. |

ASHWAUBENON TO HOLD JAGUAR QUAD EVENT |
On Friday, June 4th, the Peer Mentor Program of Parkview Middle School, along with the Goody Triathletes of Ashwaubenon High school, will be participating in the 4th annual Jaguar Quad event. This event, consisting of running, biking, cornhole, and kickball events, is a culmination of the students? hard work both inside and outside of the classroom. Events will kick off on Goelz field at 12:25 p.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m. with closing ceremonies. |

The AHS Musical usually occurs in the fall, but this year with the pandemic the directors made the decision to push it back to the end of the school year and to move the show outdoors, in the hope that vaccinations would have been effective in slowing down the virus, and that some of the restrictions might be lifted by this time. We chose the Broadway Classic musical, Damn Yankees as our production - and what better outdoor venue to use than Ashwaubenon?s own Ed Krcmar Field at Klipstine Park! |

ASHWAUBENON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TAKE SECOND AT FINANCIAL CHALLENGE |
Ashwaubenon High School had 17 students compete at the Financial Challenge held at UWGB. The competition welcomed 5 schools and more than 40 students. Students compete in teams of three or four in a quiz bowl type competition answering financial questions to earn points. At the end of four rounds, the team with the highest point total moves on in the tournament. It is a double elimination tournament. |

INTO THE WOODS MUSICAL OPENS NOVEMBER 19! |
The Ashwaubenon High School performing arts students are excited to present their 2021-22 production of the Broadway hit musical Into the Woods!
Into the Woods is one of Stephen Sondheim?s most popular musicals, as he and writer James Lapine brilliantly take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece that has become a rare modern classic. This Tony Award-winning production humorously follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his old cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on an enchanting journey in the woods to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the comedy gets a little darker as the consequences of all their actions eventually return to haunt them in this spectacular musical production of Into the Woods! |

Ashwaubenon Fishing Club Receives Donation from Nate Dax Family |
The Nate Dax Memorial Bass Open has generously donated $14,000 to the Ashwaubenon High School Fishing Club. Nate was a 2009 graduate of Ashwaubenon High School and his goal after graduating from UW-Oshkosh was to have an open water fishing club at Ashwaubenon High School. Nate passed away unexpectedly in 2016 due to heart complications after a long, hard battle against Muscular Dystrophy. |
