THRIVE: Developing Talent. Every Student. Every Day.
The Thrive Team is dedicated to developing the talents of our students and believes that through the support of teaching and learning, staff and students are empowered to direct and shape their learning. The words of Maimonides, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime,” exemplify this belief.
As part of our district RtI process, extensive student data is systematically reviewed in grade-level/content area intervention team meetings. This process facilitates a continuous review of student progress, which fosters a student-ability identification approach responsive to student needs. While the focus of this team is dedicated to developing the talents of all learners, there is an emphasis on the unique needs of gifted students.
When reviewing student talents, we look beyond specific academic talents, instead considering all five recognized areas of giftedness: general intellectual, specific academic, leadership, visual/performing arts, and creative. In addition to providing opportunities within the classroom, the district also provides enrichment opportunities outside of the classroom through co-curricular activities and makes an effort to connect students to opportunities within the community to develop their talents as well.
