Welcome! Here you will find information specific to our classroom. If you have any questions about the items listed below, please feel free to contact me via email.
I have seven classroom rules that each student must follow. They are:
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible
- Be Caring
- Have a Positive Attitude
- Do Your Best
- Make Good Choices
BEHAVIOR PLAN
I use a classroom management program designed in conjunction with our school-wide H.E.R.O. Program (Helping Everyone Respect Others). I use a behavior management system that focuses on and recognizes positive behavior instead of only negative behavior. You should expect that your child will go home on green each day. This is also where they will begin each day. Please be pleasantly surprised if they come home on a color that is above green (blue, purple, or pink). This will be used to highlight and model positive classroom behavior.
If your child comes home on yellow, there is no reason to be concerned. The color yellow is a learning tool and is a good visual for students to make better behavioral choices. If your child comes home on orange, that means that they have received multiple “reminders,” have been on yellow, and continued to make poor choices. A note will be included in your child’s home folder for you to review. If your child comes home on red, the day has most likely resulted in an office referral. I will be contacting you at this time. I typically offer students the ability to “earn back” their green if they are on yellow or orange.
Students who end the day on green or above will receive a sticker on their sticker chart. The stickers may be redeemed for rewards. Students are able to accomplish more throughout the day when inappropriate and disruptive behaviors are limited or non-existent. Students will know that when they change their color they need to correct their inappropriate or disruptive actions or behaviors.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Please make sure that your child has adequate and correct supplies for class. These items may need to be replenished throughout the school year.
