Senior Checklist (Prepared by AHS Counselors)
- Attend fall previews at technical colleges, colleges and universities.
- Wisconsin Education Fair - virtual college fair series. For details see: www.wefs.org
- Take/retake ACT, SAT as necessary.
- Prepare a resume to be given to those individuals from whom you have requested a letter of recommendation.
- Request letters of recommendation from teachers at least three weeks in advance of need.
- Visit college websites for admissions information.
- Apply to technical colleges, colleges and universities; recommended filing date is before October 31, 2020. Essays/statements should have a beginning, middle and end (300-600 words).
- University of Wisconsin admissions open 8/1/20. Utilize the UW System on-line application.

- Transcripts are requested via the Transcript Request Form found in Classlink. Prior to submitting your application to any UW school, request a transcript as you will be self-reporting your grades or uploading an unofficial transcript. In May, you will receive a form on which you will indicate your final college choice, and an OFFICIAL transcript will be sent to that college after graduation.
- Submit application to NCAA Clearinghouse if pursuing Division I or Division II athletics. Apply online at: https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/
- Scholarship booklets are available in Student Services and on-line. Please read all criteria provided on the applications. Scholarship availability is subject to change. The scholarship window is September to April. Apply early for UW scholarships found on individual college websites – deadlines are moving up! Scholarship Recognition Night is scheduled for May 19, 2021.
- Apply for financial Aid (FAFSA) beginning October 1, 2020. Online application: www.fafsa.ed.gov. Go to FAFSA website for details. Have available tax records filed in 2020 for 2019 income year.
- College Goal Wisconsin – Free on-site assistance completing your FAFSA. Check www.collegegoalwi.org for dates of virtual meetings.
