Summer School Course Offerings

Ashwaubenon Preschool and Parent Learning (APPL)

• Grade/Age Group: Ages 2–5 years
• Fee: $40 for the first child, $30 for each additional child
• Location: Ashwaubenon High School (AHS)
• Times: Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, 9:00–11:00 AM (select one day per week)

Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher—but parenting can feel like a roller coaster. The Ashwaubenon Preschool and Parent Learning (APPL) program is designed to support and strengthen your confidence in this vital role.

Through fun, engaging activities for children and guided learning for parents, the APPL program fosters early development while helping families grow together.

Note: Registration for APPL is NOT done through PowerSchool.

Getting Ready for 4-Year Old Kindergarten

• Age: 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026

Children who will be attending Ashwaubenon's 4-year old kindergarten are invited to participate in this class. They will enjoy a preschool experience that encourages interaction with teachers and their environment to develop skills in the following areas:

Children who will be attending 5-year old kindergarten are invited to attend this class. Skills necessary for success in kindergarten will be developed or strengthened, including visual, auditory, and language skills. Students will work on cutting, pasting, drawing, painting, and participating in group activities.

Enjoy the creepy, crawly world of bugs in this hands-on adventure! Students will explore many different varieties of insects through experiments, games, art, writing activities, and more.

Learn and discover the various aspects of the game of chess. There will be tournaments, chess with partners, chess on tables, chess on the floor, and more! No prior chess experience is necessary.

Students will strengthen their fine motor skills through a variety of fun-filled games, activities, and creative art projects.

Get Fit is a fun and motivating class that will engage emergent learners in developmentally appropriate activities that will enable them to be academically successful. Students will learn to engage both the brain and the body when asked to perform two separate skills. By performing two tasks at once, students will learn both tasks faster and skills become automatic. This class will focus primarily on movement and activities that will exercise the brain and body.

Martial Arts Camp

This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of mixed martial arts. Students will learn basic skills and self-defense techniques. Stretching, increasing strength, and cardiovascular conditioning will be a focus. At the same time, there will be an emphasis upon lifelong learning habits: discipline, respect, confidence, self-esteem and leadership. Students will receive a karate t-shirt and will earn their first belt!

Primary Fun with Math

This class is designed to provide additional practice and work with math skills needed to be successful in the elementary classroom. Perform science experiments to discover how to make raisins dance, a paperclip float, and how and why plants grow the way they do. You will also make volcanoes and watch them erupt. Students will use hands-on learning to discover how sound travels and to add color to a live flower. Get ready to mix it up and learn all about the scientific method. You even get to eat some of your experiments!

This course will develop the natural desire that children have for wanting to be creative. Please note that class instruction will be a duplicate of last year, so students who have taken this class in the past are discouraged from enrolling again.

Creating fossils and bubble wrap dinosaur skin are also planned! Come join us for a dino-riffic time!

 

Duct Tape Designs

Empowering Kids

Are you interested in helping out your community? Service projects empower kids with responsibility and foster their compassion towards others. A service project can help the elderly or the homeless, the environment or our furry friends. For this mini unit, we will learn about Meals on Wheels and decorate placemats to be included with the meal delivery. We will learn about animal shelters and make dog biscuits to donate to a local one in need. Additionally, we will discuss what it means to be a veteran and write thank-you letters to our local heroes. We will also create care packages for a children’s hospital in need. In this calming and creative class, we will explore how to become more mindful through yoga, stretching, breathing techniques, and other self-regulating strategies. The students will learn a variety of strategies to use to self-calm, as well as make and create fidget tools. Fidgets will include stress balls, therapy putty, glitter jars, and more. Students will also learn the skills of the Zones of Regulation to help them identify a variety of feelings and how they can best find their way back to a calm and focused state.

Has your child ever danced in the living room like there’s nobody watching? If so, this class is for them! Bop to the top in this summer’s finest, twirling dance class. Students will learn about pom and jazz dance, as well as memorize a routine to show family and friends!

Throughout the 4 weeks of class, dancers will learn what it takes to be a dancer. They will create their own dance moves as well as learn some new ones. The class will include stretching, warm ups, learning new dance techniques, and a showcased routine at the end of the session! Please have dancers wear tennis shoes and workout attire; jeans are not preferred.

Wiffle Ball - More than a Backyard Game

• Grades: 2-4

Students will learn the official rules for the variations of Wiffle Ball and how Stickball served as a precursor to Wiffle Ball and helped develop the skills of some of the top players in Major League Baseball history, including Willie Mays. They will also learn about similar games played in other countries, including Vitilla in the Dominican Republic. Lessons in teamwork and communication will also be among the benefits for the students.
Class Activities: Hitting, pitching and fielding drills to develop skills, many Wiffle Ball games, including a closing tournament, “Wiffle Ball Relays,” videos featuring the top Wiffle Ball players in the world from the World Tournament and the Warehouse Games, “Wiffle Ball Trivia,” a “Stickball Day,” “Switch-hitting Day,” create your own Vitilla set and play the game.

 

World Explorers

Advanced Board Games

This thrilling and engaging course consists of higher-level board games that challenge tactical decision making, often while leading nations or commanding armies. It introduces students to a number of larger and more in depth strategy games that teach students to plan out objectives and calculate risks through complex situations. Are you ready to become a responsible and confident babysitter? This class will help you build the skills needed to care for young children safely and creatively. You’ll learn how to prepare healthy and fun snacks, plan engaging crafts and activities, and understand the needs of kids at different ages and stages. Basic first aid concepts will also be introduced.

Students will gain hands-on experience working with younger children and will create a babysitter information form to use on future jobs. You'll also build your own babysitting tote filled with useful tools and fun ideas to bring along when you're on the job!

 

Circuit Training

Get physically fit and stay active using Magnum fitness equipment in the Parkview fitness center! In this course, students will receive a personalized training program tailored to their fitness level and goals.

Students will work and track their progress using Magnum strength machines such as the triceps extension, biceps curl, shoulder press, pec/delt deck, dips/chin-ups, leg curls, leg extension, and seated leg press. In addition, aerobic fitness will be developed using Star Trac treadmills, recumbent bikes, stair steppers, stationary bikes, and elliptical machines.

This course promotes strength, endurance, and overall wellness through structured workouts in a fun and supportive environment.

 

Cookies, Cookies, Cookies

Satisfy your sweet tooth while learning to bake with a healthy twist! In this deliciously fun class, students will learn essential baking skills—such as measuring, reading and following recipes, and understanding key nutrients—while creating a variety of cookies from around the world.

We'll bake everything from bar cookies and cutouts to international and unique cookie creations. This class offers a blend of creativity and culinary skill, with a focus on both flavor and nutrition.

Note: Students will be working in a kitchen and may come into contact with common allergens, including peanuts/tree nuts, dairy, wheat, soy, and gluten. If your child has severe allergies to any of these ingredients, it is not recommended that they enroll in this class.

 

Fishing

A hands-on course that will cover the basics of fishing. The following topics will be covered: fishing rods and reels, electronics, fishing strategies, water/weather safety, knot tying, and appropriate tackle. Students will practice what they learn on the Fox River and the Bay of Green Bay.

Introduction to High School Band

Join us for an exciting one-week introduction to high school marching band during our summer school class! This immersive program is designed for students interested in exploring the world of marching band, whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills. Participants will engage in daily practices covering essential music and marching fundamentals techniques. The camp will include team-building activities, instruction on music theory, and choreography to help students understand the coordination required for marching performances.

Students will also have the opportunity to learn about the different sections of the band—brass, woodwinds, percussion, and colorguard—allowing them to discover their interests and talents. By the end of the week, participants will prepare for a mini showcase, where they can demonstrate their new skills to friends and family.

Join us for a fun-filled week of music, movement, and camaraderie as we kick off the summer with rhythm and creativity! No prior experience is necessary; bring your enthusiasm and a desire to learn!

Jaguar Performance Training (Middle School)

Open to any students entering grade 7 or 8 that are interested in becoming a better all-around student-athlete.

Jaguar Performance Training is designed to emphasize many aspects of physical fitness. The goal of this course is to increase the student’s physical strength, endurance, agility, speed, quickness, flexibility, and power. Each session will include participating in a weight training, plyometrics, running program, and stretching. This course is offered to males and females.

 

Martial Arts Camp

This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of mixed martial arts. Students will learn basic skills and self-defense techniques. Students will receive a karate t-shirt and will earn their first belt!

 

Middle School Fun with Math

This class is designed to provide additional practice and work with math skills needed to be successful in the middle school classroom. Each student's needs (related to math skills) will be determined and appropriate instruction will be provided. Do you want to learn more about microphones, soundboards, and recording equipment?  Are you a musician who has just started writing your own music?  Have you written lyrics or melodies, but are stuck trying to come up with the rest?  Did you recently take music theory and want to keep cruising through the material?  Take your musicianship to the next level with this workshop full of tips, strategies, and sources of inspiration to help you craft your sound!  Aside from music theory and beginning keyboarding skills, we will be working heavily with the new ENCORE traveling tech and training guest professionals this year!  No previous experience necessary.

*This workshop is a prerequisite for new ENCORE crew members to learn about our travel and competition tech.

Poms, Pons and Dance

Has your child ever danced in the living room like there’s nobody watching? If so, this class is for them! Bop to the top in this summer’s finest, twirling dance class. Students will learn about pom and jazz dance, as well as memorize a routine to show family and friends!

Throughout the 4 weeks of class, dancers will learn what it takes to be a dancer. They will create their own dance moves as well as learn some new ones. The class will include stretching, warm ups, learning new dance techniques, and a showcased routine at the end of the session! Please have dancers wear tennis shoes and workout attire; jeans are not preferred.

 

Rocketry

Ready to take your interest in rocketry to the next level? This course is recommended for 4th graders who have previously taken Beginning Rocketry, as well as any 5th–8th grade students curious about space, flight, and engineering.

The course emphasizes hands-on learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving as students explore aerodynamics, propulsion, and safety protocols in rocketry. Show Choir & Musical Theatre Workshop

This class will introduce students to the fundamentals and skills needed to succeed in high school choir, show choir, and music theater.  Daily rehearsals will consist of small and large group singing, audition techniques, acting exercises, costume shop exploration/organization, and one-on-one voice lessons.  Students will also have the opportunity to choose songs for WSMA solo and ensemble small groups and solos if they want to get ahead.  It is highly encouraged for all new and incoming singers to participate in this workshop to improve their singing skills, meet new people, and become part of the Jaguar Choir Family!  No prior experience necessary.

*This workshop is a prerequisite for new ENCORE singer/dancers and certain students who are entering upper level choirs next year to increase their vocal strength and reading skills before September.*

This annual four-day mini-camp is for all incoming Ashwaubenon High School Band students. During these four morning rehearsals, students learn the fundamentals of the Jaguar Marching Band while learning the upcoming Fall halftime show. The morning consists of sectional rehearsals followed by outside drill practice on Goelz field. Students have a snack and water break midway through the morning. Parents are invited to attend and watch rehearsals.
