Advanced Computer Creations

Students will have a blast making computer creations in this course using Google products, the internet, and Microsoft products. Students will learn to create postcards, puzzles, greeting cards, stickers, word searches, posters, letters, brochures, business cards, and more! This is a great class for anyone interested in computers.
Advanced Working with Woods

This course is for anyone who has taken the Beginner Working with Woods class and is a natural progression of the skills taught. There is an emphasis on new projects and continuing mastery of use of hand tools, along with use of a variety of power hand tools. Students are required to have safety eyewear for this class.
Art Workshop

This course will develop the natural desire that children have for wanting to be creative. Instruction will involve children learning basic design, drawing, painting, and modeling using various media. Activities will be exploratory to help children become more aware of art in their world. Students will have the opportunity to pursue special interests as they create their art. Please note that class instruction will be a duplicate of last year, so students who have taken this class in the past are discouraged from enrolling again.

Learn how to create new and trendy bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, and other accessories while learning to blend colors, textures, and styles.
Beginner Digital Photography and Photo Editing

Do you love to take photos? In this course, you will learn how to use all the settings on your camera and basic photo composition techniques to create great photos! Indoor studio lighting will also be used to create beautiful head shots. You will edit your photos and use them to create print ready products such as trading cards, posters, magazine covers and much more!
Beginner Flag Football

This course is an introduction to offensive, defensive, and special teams drills including footwork, calisthenics, speed work, conditioning, and position work. A focus will be placed on sportsmanship, respect, and honesty as students participate in drill games, contests, and simulated games. Students will also practice skills to enable them to participate in the Punt, Pass, and Kick contest at a higher level.

This exciting and fun course consists of games and activities to challenge a student's ability to demonstrate creative thinking and strategy. It introduces students to new games while having fun with their favorites as well. Students work individually, in pairs, and in small groups. A few examples of games that will be explored include: Phase 10, Risk, Othello, Dominoes, Cribbage, and more!
Business Boot Camp

Business Boot Camp is the place where students become their own bosses! Each week students will come up with a new business venture, and they will be responsible for designing the product, picking the sale price, finding fun ways to promote it to the other summer school participants, and determining if a profit was made. The first week we start with a lemonade stand - the remaining weeks are limited only to the creativity of the class!
Ceramics

Child Care and Babysitting

Learn how to become an excellent babysitter by developing the skills needed to responsibly attend to small children left in your care. Topics included in this class are healthy and fun snack ideas, creative craft ideas, simple first aid direction, and information about kids at various ages and stages. Students will have the opportunity to work with younger children and will create a babysitter information form, as well as gather a tote of fun items to be used on real jobs in the future.

Get physically fit using the Magnum equipment in the fitness center. You will receive a fitness training program designed specifically for you. You will be working and tracking your performance on the following Magnum machines: tri-cep extension, arm curl (bi-cep), shoulder press, pec/delt deck, dips/chin ups, leg curls, leg extension, and seated leg press. In addition, you will become aerobically fit using the Star Trac treadmills, recumbent bike, stair stepper, stationary bike, and elliptical machine.

Satisfy your "sweet tooth" but eat nutritionally too as you learn to bake cookies. Students will learn to measure, read and follow a recipe correctly, recognize important nutrients, and create a variety of nutritious cookies. Students who participate in this class will be working in a kitchen and may come into contact with allergens such as peanuts/tree nuts, dairy, wheat, soy and gluten.
Create Your Own T-Shirts and Sweatshirts

Empowering Kids

Are you interested in helping out your community? Service projects empower kids with responsibility and foster their compassion towards others. A service project can help the elderly or the homeless, the environment or our furry friends. For this mini unit we will learn about Meals on Wheels and decorate placemats to be included with the meal delivery. We will learn about animal shelters and make dog biscuits to donate to a local one in need. Additionally, we will discuss what it means to be a veteran and write thank you letters to our local heroes. We will also create care packages for a children’s hospital in need. Magical Worlds of Harry Potter

Hop onboard the Hogwarts Express and explore the magical worlds of that famous wizard, Harry Potter. Discover the history behind the stories. Explore the books through conversations. Students will be sorted into a house, design their own Hogwarts Crests, create magical creatures, hunt for the golden snitch, and create some magical crafts. More importantly, every student will get their very own wand to perform spells and enchantments. Come join Harry on one of his magical adventures and brush up on your favorite spells.

If you are interested in joining the 2018-2019 Jaguaress Junior Middle School Dance Team, THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU! Participants will learn the basic technical skills needed to be on the Middle School Dance Team. (Pirouettes, Toe Touches, Leaps, etc...) They may also begin learning the choreography needed for football season sidelines, homecoming parade routines and possibly the general choreography of their competitive Pom and Jazz routines. This course is designed to prep the dancers for the beginning of their season in August and help them decide ahead of time if dance is the right fit for them in middle school.
