School Nutrition
Welcome to ASD School Nutrition Our main goal is to feed kids. The Ashwaubenon School Nutrition Program, as a partner in education, supports student achievement by efficiently providing high quality food and services. Our innovative, nutritious and cost effective meals strive to encourage a lifetime of good nutrition. All meals are prepared onsite at our five schools; from oven to table in minutes, and are compliant with the meal regulations for The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. These programs include operational and support personnel totaling about 25 people in the five school kitchens. We truly teach lunch and sell nutrition. The School Nutrition Department works with area farmers, in collaboration with Farm To School and Brown County's Wello Program, to procure locally grown produce and bring education into classrooms. GENERAL INFORMATION BREAKFAST is available on the first day and every day in all schools, even on early dismissal days. Please call the school office to pre-approve your students enrolled in Cormier Early Learning. A la Carte Smart Snacks selections are available to students in grades 6-12 in addition to a full breakfast meal. LUNCH is available the first day of school and most early dismissal days (please check your school calendar to see if classes are released prior to lunch). Offered daily are produce bars with multiple fruit and vegetable choices, whole grains, and low fat protein choices. – Please bear with us as we navigate the food shortages affecting our country at this time. Know that we will try our best to follow the printed menus, but we may need to serve an alternate menu choice from time to time. We will always make sure the kids are fed, but the entree or sides may slightly change. - FREE and REDUCED Meal Qualification The Free and Reduced Meal Application must be completed and approved before receiving free and reduced meals. If you feel you may qualify for free/reduced meals, please apply on the Family Portal. Or call Rebecca at 920.492.2905 x 1006. Facts to remember:
Still Hungry? Students have the option to select unlimited fruits and vegetables with each meal purchase (excluding potato products). Smart Snack products are offered to students in grades 6-12. The items are individually priced and should supplement a healthy meal. Smart Snack items are not part of the free/reduced meal program and only students with a positive account balance may participate. Families are responsible for all charges. Students can also pay cash to purchase products, but change will be deposited into the student meal account. Purchases can be blocked or have limitations implemented by notifying the district office at 920.492.2905 Ext. 1006. How Does My Student Get Charged for a Meal? K-5 students will use a class photo identification program/ pin number to enter their participation for meals. As students come in for meals their class list with photos will be pulled up on a computer/ tablet screen to enter them into the lunch program for meal charges. AHS and Parkview Middle School in grades 6-12 use a touch pad for purchases. When a meal number is entered, a picture verifies the student to the number. It is important that students remember their meal number. Please memorize the four-digit student meal number to expedite service. If you do not know the meal number please call 920-492-2905 x:1006. Cash sales will be allowed at both schools, however, remaining change will be deposited into the student meal account. Student accounts must have a positive balance at all times. To deposit money into a student account, you can set up an account on Family Portal, call 920.492.2905 x1006 with a credit/debit card number, or send money to school with your student. Family Portal will not save credit or debit card information.
