Mr. Kurt Weyers, Valley View Elementary Principal

March 2013

Dear Valley View Parents and Students,

I would like to personally thank everyone who attended Parent Teacher Conferences last month.  We once again had a tremendous turnout and truly appreciate your participation in your child’s education.  Please find below the percentages of conferences per grade level.

                        Kindergarten – 91%                 1st Grade – 96%           2nd Grade – 93%

                        3rd Grade – 90%                      4th Grade – 94%          5th Grade – 88%

As we look forward to the month of March, it is a very busy and exciting time here at Valley View.  This past week, we celebrated the wonderful works of Dr. Seuss with our Read Across America program.  We had daily activities, dress-up days, contests, book swaps, and lots of reading honoring a tremendous author, Dr. Seuss.  We culminated the week’s activities on Friday, March 1st by celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday, participating in our Reading is Fundamental (RIF) activities.

Later in the month, we will be having our annual Valley View PTO Spring Carnival and Art Show on Thursday, March 21, from 5:00 – 7:30 pm.  The theme this year is Valley View’s Luau.  Volunteers have already begun decorating the hallways and cafeteria with a Luau flavor.  There will be numerous activities and games as well as an opportunity to duct tape Mr. Bake and myself to a wall.  If you are interested in volunteering your time, please email Valley View PTO at vvpto@ashwaubenon.k12.wi.us.  Any help that you can provide is truly appreciated.

Finally, the month of March brings several days out of school.  Thursday, March 7, we will be having an early release at 11:00 am.  Then no school on Friday, March 8, as teachers will be participating in an all-day in-service.  Spring Break is Saturday, March 22, through Sunday, March 31.  The main office will be closed during that week.  Also, Monday, April 1, we will not have school as this is also an all-day in-service as well.  School will resume on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Hope everyone has a wonderful month of March.  Once again, thank you for your continued support in your child’s education.  Any questions please feel free to contact me or your child’s teacher.

A little about Mr. Weyers:

This is my fifth year as Principal at Valley View.  Prior to arriving in Ashwaubenon, I was previously an administrator in the Wausau School District for three years.  Before becoming a school administrator, I was an elementary teacher for 15 years.  I enjoy camping, traveling, and attending athletic events with my family.
