| The annual Ashwaubenon High School Art Show takes place Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The show, which is free of charge, takes place at the Ashwaubenon Historical Society at 737 Cormier Road. |

| Civil War Comes Alive For Ashwaubenon Students |
| Ashwaubenon fifth grade students will take part in a Civil War re-enactment on Friday, May 17th at Valley View Elementary School, 2200 True Lane. The students, from Ashwaubenon's Valley View and Pioneer schools, will march in the streets, participate in eight learning stations and end the day in a Civil War battle simulation. This year marks the eleventh anniversary of this annual event. |

| Ashwaubenon High School Creating Alumni Art Gallery |
| Ashwaubenon High School wants to showcase artwork created by their alumni. AHS Art teachers are coordinating an effort to create a gallery at the school that will include alumni artwork. The purpose of the gallery is to connect both past and current students with the community by displaying their works of art in a public setting. |

| Destination Imagination Program Holding Recyclable Paper Drive |
| Ashwaubenon Schools' Destination Imagination (DI) program is holding a recyclable paper drive at Valley View Elementary School, 2200 True Lane, on Saturday, May 11th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The community is encouraged to participate by contributing newspaper, printer paper, copy paper, magazines, junk mail, corrugate boxes, cereal boxes, pasta boxes, soda boxes, etc. |

| AHS Students Excel at DECA Internationals with One Placing 3rd in the World |
| Five Ashwaubenon High School students competed at the DECA International Competition in California, which took place April 24th through April 27th. Three of the five students made it to the final round of the marketing competition by finishing in the top ten percent of the world in their business category. Senior Austin Kadulski advanced even further by placing third in the world in his category. Over 12,000 students from around the globe took part in this year's competition. |

| Valley View Presents Spring Musical and Tone Chime Concert |
| Ashwaubenon's Valley View Elementary School Intermediate Choir and Tone Chime Choir will be conducting their spring musical and concert on Thursday, May 2nd at 6:30 p.m. in the Valley View gym at 2200 True Lane. The performance, which is free of charge, will be followed by an Ice Cream Social in the cafeteria. A second performance will be held for the Valley View student body at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, May 3rd. |

| Four Ashwaubenon Teams Advance to Global DI Tournament |
| For the 2012-13 season, Ashwaubenon Schools had 31 teams participate in the Destination Imagination (DI) program. 24 of those teams were in competitive categories with 16 of them advancing to the State tournament held on April 13th at UW-Stevens Point. Of the 16 Ashwaubenon teams at State, 4 are advancing to the Global Tournament which takes place in Knoxville, Tennessee from May 22nd through 25th. |

| Ashwaubenon School District Encourages Earth Day Participation |
| While the world celebrates Earth Day on Monday, April 22nd, Ashwaubenon School District faculty, staff and students can participate as well, each one with a strong sense of satisfaction at having done his or her part to control energy use. The school district has an active energy conservation program that has already achieved more than $278,000 savings through a 15.7% reduction in energy use over 36 months. |

| AHS Bands Present Spring Guest Artist Concert |
| The Ashwaubenon High School Wind Ensemble will present its Spring Guest Artist Concert on Sunday, April 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the AHS auditorium at 2391 S. Ridge Road. This year the band, along with the Jaguar Jazz Ensemble, will welcome trumpet soloist Brent Turney. Professor Turney is currently on staff at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. |

| Student Operated Vision Cafe Opens at AHS |
| Vision Cafe, a student run business serving hot cocoa, cappuccino and various flavored coffees to the staff at Ashwaubenon High School and the School District Office, has recently opened its doors at AHS. The cafe is an enhancement to the district's special education program and provides students the opportunity to be involved with various facets of the operation such as prepping the coffee brewers, printing online orders, preparing and delivering beverages as well as opening and closing the till daily. |

| Valley View Hosting Artist in Residence "We ARE Diversity" Workshop |
| Ms. Taku C Ronsman is conducting a five day artist in residence "We ARE Diversity" workshop at Ashwaubenon's Valley View Elementary School from April 2nd through April 8th. The goal of the workshop is to enhance the ability of students to "Accept, Respect, and Embrace" diversity. The hands-on multicultural music program will culminate with student performances on April 5th and April 8th. |

| Five of Eight AHS State DECA Competitors Advance to Internationals |
| On March 19th and 20th, over 1,200 students participated in the DECA State Competition in Lake Geneva. Ashwaubenon High School had eight students compete in the event with five of them qualifying for the International Competition in California. Qualifiers had to be one of the top six finishers in the State for their specific competition category. |

| Sixteen Ashwaubenon Teams Advance to State DI Tournament |
| On March 9th, AHS hosted the Green Bay Area Regional Destination Imagination (DI) Tournament where ninety-five area teams showcased their challenge solutions in Primary, Elementary, Middle, & Secondary Levels. Ashwaubenon schools had thirty-one teams participate in the event, twenty-four of which were in competitive categories. Sixteen of Ashwaubenon's competitive teams placed first or second, thus qualifying for the State Tournament. In addition, four Ashwaubenon teams earned Special Recognition Awards, the highest honors in the DI program. |

| AHS Marching Band to Perform at Disney World |
| The Ashwaubenon High School Marching Band will be traveling to Orlando, Florida to march in Disney's Magic Kingdom Parade on Wednesday, March 27th. While in Florida the band will tour the Kennedy Space Center, attend a performance of the Blue Man group, tour Universal's Islands of Adventure and spend time at other Disney parks. |

| Brian Nelsen Selected to Succeed Retiring AHS Principal Mark Sheedy |
| Brian Nelsen, the current Director of Pupil Services for the Ashwaubenon School District, has been selected to be Ashwaubenon High School's next Principal. This appointment is the result of current AHS Principal Mark Sheedy announcing his retirement effective June 30, 2013. |

| AHS Choirs Present 'A Tapestry of Songs' Concert |
| The Ashwaubenon High School Concert and Treble Choirs, along with the Encore Show Choir, will present their annual spring concert, entitled 'A Tapestry of Songs'. The concert takes place on Monday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the AHS auditorium. Admission is free of charge. |

| AHS Senior Schultz Selected to 'Kids from Wisconsin' |
| Ashwaubenon High School Senior trumpeter Emily Schultz has been selected to be a member of the 2013 'Kids from Wisconsin' performing group. Schultz auditioned for the group this past winter and was recently notified of her selection. |

| AHS Teens Host 4 Year-old Kindergarten Students |
| Energy and enthusiasm reigned as Ashwaubenon High School physical education students guided district 4 year-old Kindergarten (4K) students through a series of physical activities on Tuesday, March 5, at the Ashwaubenon High School field house. The four and five year-olds literally jumped in excitement as they began warm-ups and various other activities. The program encourages physical fitness with high school students acting as group facilitators and student role models. |

| Valley View Celebrates Wisconsin Authors |
| Ashwaubenon's Valley View Elementary School celebrated life-long skills of reading and writing during Read Across America Week with special guest authors from Wisconsin. Every classroom had the opportunity to see at least two authors. |

| Judge Joins Ashwaubenon High Students in 'To Kill a Mockingbird' Discussion |
| The novel To Kill a Mockingbird has been a staple in high school classrooms for decades. The crux of the novel describes a court case in 1930's Alabama in which a Black man is accused of raping a White woman. Brown County Circuit Court Judge Honorable Marc Hammer "presided" over Nancy Bassindale's English 10 class at AHS fielding questions about the particulars of the Robinson case and the workings of our twenty-first century's judicial system in Wisconsin |

| Eight AHS Students Advance to State DECA Competition |
| On Saturday, January 5th, over twenty schools and seven hundred students participated in the DECA District Competition. Ashwaubenon High School had twenty-seven compete in the event held at Green Bay Preble High School. Four AHS students placed 1st, while one placed 2nd and another placed 4th. A total of eight AHS students qualified to advance to the State Competition in March. |

| School District Earns Two Federal EPA Energy Awards |
| The Ashwaubenon School District was awarded two federal energy awards from the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) at its January 28th School Board meeting. The district won the EPA's Top Performer Award for achieving an average ENERGY STAR energy performance score of 98 across its portfolio of buildings. It also earned the EPA's 10% Improvement Award for improving energy efficiency by more than 10 percent compared to a 2009 baseline. Since 2009, the district has saved over $246,000 in energy costs, allowing it to redirect those funds back into educational programs. |

| On Saturday, February 2nd, Ashwaubenon's Valley View Elementary School will host the Green Bay Regional Destination Imagination Instant Challenge Workshop. Competitive Destination Imagination (DI) teams in grades 3 through 12 from area schools will complete in four instant challenges. |

| Lucius Named Wisconsin 2013 Business Official of the Year |
| Keith Lucius, Ashwaubenon School District's Assistant Superintendent, has been named the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials '2013 Business Official of the Year'. Lucius was presented the statewide award on Wednesday, January 23rd during the Annual State Education Convention in Milwaukee. The school district is holding a community open house to honor Lucius on Tuesday, January 29th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Ashwaubenon High School commons area at 2391 South Ridge Road. |

| Strong Community Support Provides for Improved, Multi-Use Field |
| Less than a year ago, a committee comprised of community members and parents started work on a project to improve Ashwaubenon's Goelz Field. The project, called JAGfield, is to convert the single-use, natural turf football field into a multi-use, synthetic turf facility. To date, over $800,000 of the $1,000,000 needed has been raised, all in the form of private donations. This substantial progress makes it very likely the project will be completed in time for the upcoming 2013-14 school year. |

| Encore & Jaguar Jazz to Perform with Big Mouth at Jukebox Saturday Night Event |
| The AHS Encore Show Choir and Jaguar Jazz Ensemble are hosting Jukebox Saturday Night on Saturday, January 26th at the Stadium View Bar and Grille, 1963 Holmgren Way. The event, which also features Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns, hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and a dance, runs from 7:00?11:00 p.m. It is open to the public but tickets must be purchased in advance. |

| 4 & 5-Year-Old Kindergarten Registrations Accepted During Month of January |
| Four year-old and five year-old kindergarten registration for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year will take place in Ashwaubenon at Cormier School and Early Learning Center, 2280 South Broadway, during the month of January. To be eligible for four year-old kindergarten in 2013-2014, a child must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2013. To be eligible for five year-old kindergarten in 2013-2014, a child must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2013. |

| Ashwaubenon's Valley View Elementary GLOBE Resource Teacher, Rebecca Thieme-Baeseman, wrote a children's book over the summer while in South Carolina. The book has been published and is now available to purchase. |

| The Ashwaubenon High School Mixed and Treble Choirs with Encore will be performing their annual Holiday Concert in the Ashwaubenon High School auditorium on Monday, December 17th at 6:30 p.m. The program, directed by Teresa Schroepfer and accompanied by Mary Kempen, will include traditional holiday songs. Admission and holiday cheer are free of charge. |

| Valley View Students Celebrate Diversity Through World Music Assembly |
| On November 21st, Ashwaubenon's Valley View Elementary School students and staff enjoyed an energetic world music performance by Guy Louis Sferlazza, a performing artist from Michigan. The show was very interactive, with many students and staff participating by playing instruments from around the world, singing and at one point, every person who wanted, was invited to dance during the "African Community Music" part of the show! Students saw and heard a number of beautiful and unique instruments including the Native American Drum, the Renaissance fifteen-string Lute, a wide variety of African instruments; the Sitar, Tamboura and Tabla drums from India, and a big finale with the electric guitar. |

| The AHS Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble will be performing their annual Holiday Concert in the Ashwaubenon High School auditorium on Tuesday, December 11th at 7:00 p.m. The program includes traditional fare such as Feliz Navidad by the men's double trio, Carol of the Drum and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by the Wind Ensemble as well lesser known pieces including Patapan, Allon, Gay Bergeres, and We Wish You a Mambo Christmas. Joining the Concert Choir for the selection Children Go will be Parkview Middle School's 7th-8th Grade Young Men's Choir. Admission and holiday cheer are free of charge. |

| The Salvation Army's 2012 Red Kettle Kick-Off will include the Ashwaubenon High School Drum Line. The event, hosted by Schneider National at their headquarters at 3101 Packerland Drive, takes place on Tuesday, November 13 at 2:30 p.m. |

| Ashwaubenon Students Win State Postcard Contest |
| Ashwaubenon Schools have two "state champions", one in the elementary and one in the middle school division of the State Discover Foreign Languages Student Postcard Contest. Valley View Elementary fourth grader Cara Korth's postcard has been selected as the grades PK-5 winner in the Wisconsin Association of Foreign Language Teacher's (WAFLT) annual contest. Parkview Middle School eighth grader Katelyn Huebner's postcard is the winner for grades 6-8. |

| Ashwaubenon Band Concert Features Veterans Tribute, Packer Hall Of Famer |
| The Ashwaubenon Bands will present their annual Fall Finale Concert on Monday, November 12th at 7:00 pm in the Ashwaubenon High School Fieldhouse. The bands will devote a special portion of the concert to pay tribute to our veterans on Veterans Day. This year the bands welcome Packer Hall of Famer Gerry Ellis who will perform a rendition of 'America' with the high school bands. In addition, local newscaster Bill Jartz will emcee the concert. |

| AHS Students Partner With Sheriff Department To Promote Safe Driving |
| Students working in an Ashwaubenon High School Sociology class are using social media as a tool to promote safe driving. The class has chosen a message and created a public service announcement that displays this message. The focus of the project has been to reduce the number of people that engage in texting while driving. This message caught the attention of the Brown County Sheriff's Department who then decided to promote the video on Packer parking passes in the K-Mart parking lot during home games through the rest of the season. |

| Pioneer Pride and Valley View HEROs are 'Rock-In' |
| On October 16th and 17th, Rock In Prevention, the nationally known, Iowa based group is returning to Ashwaubenon's Pioneer and Valley View elementary schools. Their presentations will teach students how to resist peer pressure, engage in appropriate, non-bullying behaviors, and be empowered to respond in ways to minimize bullying behaviors. Three presentations at each school begin at 9:15 a.m. with the last one ending at 2:30 p.m. |

| Ashwaubenon Schools Now Streaming Events Online |
| The Ashwaubenon School District is using a new service to stream video of events over the internet. The new service is from PlayOn Sports and is called WIAAtv. So far, the District has streamed football games, a school news program, graduation ceremonies from last school year, School Board meetings and a variety of educational videos. These can all be viewed at www.wiaa.tv/ashwaubenon or by clicking on the WIAAtv icon on the District?s website at www.ashwaubenon.k12.wi.us. |

| High School Cancer Groups Collaborate For Wear Pink Football Game |
| The Ashwaubenon High School and Notre Dame Academy Sting Cancer Groups will be holding a Wear Pink football event at Goelz Field in Ashwaubenon on Friday, October 12th. The groups are collaborating to help raise money for the Green Bay Breast Cancer Family Foundation. During the football game which starts at 7:00 p.m., both groups will be holding a bake sale and conducting a halftime "Miracle Minute" fundraising activity. |

| Ashwaubenon High Hosting Sting Cancer Walk/Run Saturday |
| On Saturday, September 29th, Ashwaubenon High School's Sting Cancer Club is hosting their second bi-annual "STRIDES for LIVES" Walk/Run. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the walk/run starts at 9:00 a.m. from Ashwaubenon High, 2391 South Ridge Road. All proceeds go towards the club's goal of supporting local individuals and families affected by cancer. |

| A group of Ashwaubenon High School alumni, with help from the Ashwaubenon School District, are in the process of establishing an AHS Alumni Association. | Little Free Library Now at Cormier School |
| During Cormier School & Early Learning Center?s Fall Fest, there was a grand opening and introduction of two Little Free Libraries, one for children?s books and the other for adult books. Little Free Libraries are open to the public and books are free. There are no fees, no fines, and no operating hours. Visitors do not need a library card. Instead, they pick up books as they please with the expectation that they?ll also drop off books to keep the shelf stocked. The mission of Little Free Libraries goes hand-in-hand with what Cormier is all about - to promote literacy and the love of reading. |
