he Kodaly Curriculum is taught at the Pioneer Elementary School Music Department with an emphasis on developing the child’s voice, learning to read and write music, playing percussion instruments, engaging in movement activities and developing an appreciation for music. The school uses Kodaly resources and Share the Music Textbooks by the Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company. Students meet with the music teacher two times a week for 30 minute periods. Students in grades 3—5 have the opportunity to participate in a Winter Musical in December. During the Spring, the Intermediate Choir, which is made up of students in grades 4-5, participate in a concert.
