Well the team left AHS on Tuesday the 27th and arrived in Houston early on the morning of Thursday the 29th. Once arrived work began again on the vehicles to prep them for inspection. The students are having some challenges as this is their first time at the Eco Marathon and it is a much different type of competition than the Wisconsin competitions. In the midst of it all the students are working on things and working toward getting thier vehicles to pass tech inspection and move on to the competition. A few pics of the trip and many of the competition will follow soon.
Well after a long haul to get there compete and the longer (so it seemed) haul to get home we all survived and are safe. Just a few notes that I would like to add. The fact that this was the teams first time going to the Eco Marathon, I (Jay Olenski) thought they did well. They actually were able to post on the results board while other teams who have been there were not able to. Our students had some hurdles to work through that they were not used to yet they were able to get both vehicles to successfully complete runs. For a first time around I have to say I would consider the trip a success. They also recieved many positive comments from inspectors and judges on the different drive design that was a first for the Eco Marathon.
Will there be a next year? Stick around and see. Lot's of things to consider before committing to next year. Plenty of positive responses so it is a possibility. ;)
