Encore Show Choir, established at Ashwaubenon High School in the 1993-94 school year, is a group of 20 male and female singer/dancers. A student instrumental combo accompanies the singers. This choir rehearses outside normal school hours yet earns ½ credit per year. Auditions are held in the late spring for the following year’s troupe. Encore performs in the community throughout the year but especially during the holiday season as businesses, clubs, nursing homes, etc. call in to request performances. The choir is under the direction of Teresa Schroepfer.

As part of the choir program at AHS, Encore tours every other year. Past touring troupes have performed in Boston, Orlando, New York City, New Orleans, Myrtle Beach, and San Francisco. Encore competes in solo and ensemble where they have consistently received first place medals at district and state festivals.

The AHS music parents plan and implement an annual fundraising event that is now shared with the AHS Jaguar Jazz Band called “Afternoon of Swing and Sweets.” This joint concert is held on a Sunday afternoon in the spring featuring both groups who serve desserts to audience members during intermission. Proceeds fund outfits, supplies, and equipment for the show choir and jazz band. Tickets are available each spring by calling the high school office.
