Welcome to the HOMEWORK PAGE for Mrs. Conradt's Class.  Here you will find the daily expectations and guidelines for homework in second grade.  Students are expected to complete at least 20 minutes of homework each school night. 

READING

All second grade students are expected to read each night.  We recommend that second graders read for 10-15 minutes at a time.  Most days, students will be bringing home a guided reading book from class to read.  If it is a day that they do not meet for guided reading, they can choose any book from home to read, in order to reach their daily minutes of "at home" reading. 

 

WORD WORK

Students in second grade will be using a program called "Words Their Way" to learn common spelling patterns.  They will bring home a set of word cards every other week to practice sorting and spelling.  They should sort their cards each night, working on speed and accuracy.  A few times per week they should practice writing these same words.

MATH

Students will bring home math homework sheets once or twice per week.  They should complete the worksheet and return it to school the following day.  If students do not have a math worksheet, they are encouraged to practice their basic math facts (addition and subtraction) using flashcards or computer programs.

OTHER

Sometimes students will have to review for a test or quiz in Science or Social Studies.  If that is the case, the student will bring home a study sheet or study cards to review at home.  They will receive this study material at least 3-4 days in advance.
