Open Enrollment Information (click to see our Open Enrollment Ad):
The State of Wisconsin Open Enrollment Program allows parents to apply for their children to attend a nonresident school district at no cost to them other than providing their own transportation for their students to and from school.  All open enrollment begins with an application submitted on the DPI website during a three-week application period each February.  There are no exceptions to this requirement for any reason and open enrollment is an option, not a guarentee.  After the applications are filed in February, both the resident and nonresident school districts must approve the request.  Parents are then notified by mail usually by the 1st of April that their student is approved to attend the nonresident school the following school year.

The Open Enrollment Application period for the 2013-14 school year is Monday, February 4, 2013 through 4:00 pm on Monday, April 30, 2013.  The on-line Open Enrollment Application will be available during these dates at http://sms.dpi.wi.gov/sms_psctoc.  Additional information regarding Open Enrollment can as be found at that website.

Tuition Waiver Option/Information:
Families who are moving out of our District and wish to have their student(s) remain in Ashwaubenon Schools are usually eligible for a "tuition waiver" that allows their students to continue to attend long enough to apply for open enrollment.  A tuition waiver is only temporary - until the next open enrollment appliction window - when the family must complete  and file an open enrollment application for the student(s) to continue to attend Ashwaubenon Schools up to the time they graduate.  When a family moves out of Ashwaubenon they should immediately contact the school(s) their student(s) attend and request these forms.

Tuition Payment Option/Information:
One final option available to nonresident families is for them to enter into a tuition agreement with Ashwaubenon Schools.  The tuition charged will only be the amount as allowed under the open enrollment program.  If you wish to find out more about this option contact Keith Lucius, Assistant Superintendent of Schools at 492.2905. ext. 1005.
